CPM — Certified Property Manager
The CPM (Certified Property Manager) awarded by IREM is the global gold standard for property management professionals. In Jamaica it is increasingly specified for managing residential portfolios, commercial buildings, and resort condominiums at properties like Sandals, Digicel HQ, and VMBS-managed assets.
What is the CPM Designation?
The Certified Property Manager (CPM) is conferred by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), a global affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. It is widely regarded as the most rigorous and respected credential in professional property management, covering the full spectrum from residential apartment portfolios to large-scale commercial and resort real estate.
In Jamaica, the CPM is gaining significant traction as the build-to-rent sector grows, commercial real estate stock in New Kingston and Half-Way-Tree expands, and resort operators demand verifiable management credentials. Jamaica’s all-inclusive resort complexes — including major Sandals and Iberostar properties — increasingly specify CPM status for senior estate management roles covering villa pools, condominium resorts, and employee housing.
IREM membership is expanding across the Caribbean, and Jamaican professionals can access CPM coursework through IREM’s online platform and approved Caribbean chapter events, often combining study with practical experience in local real estate firms or hotel property divisions.
