What Is APM MAPM?
The Association for Project Management (APM) is the UK’s chartered body for the project management profession — the only organisation in the UK with a Royal Charter for project management. MAPM (Member of the Association for Project Management) is the primary membership grade, awarded to professionals who have passed the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) and demonstrated practical project management experience.
The APM PMQ is a rigorous, knowledge-based qualification covering the full breadth of project management theory and practice as defined in the APM Body of Knowledge (7th edition). Unlike methodology-specific qualifications such as PRINCE2, the PMQ tests conceptual and applied understanding across the entire project lifecycle — making it particularly valued on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
In Jamaica, APM qualifications are recognised primarily by UK-linked infrastructure projects (FCDO, DfID-funded), the Caribbean Development Bank, and public sector bodies that align with UK project standards. Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
APM requires CPD for continued membership. 35 hours per year is recommended. APM online learning, webinars, and events all count toward your annual CPD requirement.
