Travel and Tourism Agents in Jamaica serve both outbound travellers (Jamaicans going abroad) and inbound tourism (booking services for visitors). They work for travel agencies, airlines (handling reservations and ticketing), cruise companies, and as independent agents. Key Responsibilities
- Booking flights, hotels, tours and transfers for clients
- Using GDS platforms (Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo)
- Advising on visa requirements and travel documentation
- Packaging customised itineraries for groups and corporate clients
- Handling changes, cancellations and travel insurance claims
Qualifications
IATA / UFTAA Foundation Diploma is the standard industry entry credential. UTech and HEART/NSTA offer Tourism Management programmes. IATA certification significantly improves employment prospects at airline offices and larger agencies.
