How to Obtain — Step by Step

1
Achieve Strong CSEC Grades in Sciences
Biology, chemistry, and physics or mathematics are the key prerequisite subjects for physiotherapy degree admission.
2
Apply for the BScPT Programme at UWI Mona or UTech Jamaica
Both universities offer accredited physiotherapy degrees. UWI Mona is the longest-established route; UTech offers a newer but recognised programme.
3
Complete 4 Years of Study Including Clinical Rotations
Clinical placements in orthopaedics, neurology, paediatrics, cardiorespiratory, and sports settings are integrated throughout the degree.
4
Graduate and Apply for AHCJ Registration
Submit your degree certificate and required documents to the Allied Health Council of Jamaica for professional registration.
5
Obtain Annual Practising Certificate
Annual renewal requires evidence of CPD compliance. The AHCJ practising certificate must be displayed at your place of practice.
6
For International Practice — HCPC, CAPR, or FCCPT
Pursue HCPC registration for the UK, CAPR assessment for Canada, or FCCPT credential evaluation for the United States.

CPD & Continuing Education

AHCJ requires CPD for annual registration renewal. The Jamaica Physiotherapy Association (JPA) hosts an annual conference and workshops throughout the year. International online CPD courses from accredited providers (including those approved by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy) are widely available and accepted.
