Role Overview

Pharmacists in Jamaica work in retail pharmacies (Fontana, PharmaSave, MedPharm), hospital pharmacies (private and public sector), clinics, and in pharmaceutical industry roles. They are responsible for dispensing prescriptions, counselling patients on medication use and interactions, and managing stock and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications & Licensing

A Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or PharmD from a recognised institution is required. Registration with the Pharmacy Council of Jamaica is mandatory before practice. UWI Mona and some overseas universities (University of Florida, Howard, Caribbean medical schools) are common training routes for Jamaican pharmacists.
