Social Services Officers (SWG/SSA) and Social Work Aides (SWG/SWA) form the entry and paraprofessional tier of Jamaica’s social welfare workforce. SSA officers administer poverty-reduction programmes, welfare grants and PATH assessments. These grades are accessible to candidates with diplomas or associate degrees and provide a pathway into the SWG/PS professional series.
