What is a Government Accountant in Jamaica’s Civil Service?
Government Accountants sit within the Financial Management Group (FMG) under two overlapping series: the Accounting Series (FMG/AS) for general public finance officers and the Professional Accounting Series (FMG/PA) for qualified accountants. Both run from Pay Band 7 to Pay Band 12. These officers manage public funds, prepare financial statements, monitor budgets and ensure compliance with the Financial Administration and Audit (FAA) Act.
