Role Overview

The Hotel Front Desk Officer (also called Receptionist or Guest Services Agent) is the face of the hotel. They handle check-in and check-out, room assignments, guest requests, complaints and concierge duties. In Jamaica’s resort corridor, strong communication skills and cultural awareness are essential — guests arrive from the Americas, Europe and beyond.

Senior / Night Auditor J$1.2M–J$1.8M
Front Desk Supervisor / Duty Manager J$1.5M–J$2.5M

Key Responsibilities

  • Checking guests in and out using Property Management Systems (Opera, Fidelio)
  • Handling room allocations, upgrades and special requests
  • Managing cash and card payments accurately
  • Responding to complaints and escalating where necessary
  • Coordinating with housekeeping on room readiness

Qualifications & Path

A HEART/NSTA Certificate in Front Office Operations or CAPE Hospitality and Tourism Studies is a standard starting point. CXC subjects in English and Mathematics are typically required. Many front desk officers progress to Duty Manager, Rooms Division Manager and eventually GM.
